The Camarilla introduced as second of five factions for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive have revealed the second of five important factions to be found in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, the Camarilla. Factions are not quite the same as the five available Vampire Clans (Malkavian, Brujah, Tremere, Toreador, and Ventrue), but are instead a collection of Vampires from many clans united under a single banner, vying for control of Seattle.
You can find an introduction to the first faction, the Pioneers, here.
The Camarilla is a faction that inhabits some of the most elite positions in Seattle's socioeconomic ladder. You can read a further description about the Camarilla below, as well as an image of their stronghold.
Bloodlines 2 is due out in early 2020. There are snippets of gameplay from both Gamescom as well as E3, in case you missed it.
Seattle is host to an incredibly lucrative technology industry and business community, and the Camarilla have certainly benefited from this. Lead by Prince Cross, over the last 20 years this faction has helped to foster this community and drive the financial success of the city into the 21st century. Deeply ingrained into Seattle’s business community, the Camarilla count among their numbers CEOs, software moguls, bankers, venture capitalists, politicians and other members of society’s elite. This is a Kindred faction that doesn’t just influence the city from dark, street-level alleys, but also from the board rooms crowning skyscrapers up above.
This is partly in thanks to Prince Cross’ even-handed rule, business sense, and organizational capabilities. The Prince is skilled at forging key alliances, but also at knowing just how much power to give vampires to keep them comfortable but unable to rise against him. A ruler who prefers negotiation and careful strategy over brute force and violence, his political policy is one of stability, prosperity, and maintaining the Masquerade.
At this point, keeping the piece is key for Prince Cross and the Camarilla. While other Kindred communities have suffered in other cities in the last decade, he has helped vampires in Seattle to thrive. If he can keep this up, and gain an even greater foothold in the city’s power structure, he just might catch the eye of his elders in the upper echelons of the Camarilla
Defining Characteristics:
Power Players – Very few cities boast a vampire elite as wealthy as Seattle. In these refined circles, your true worth shows in how you much control your money has bought you.
The Ivory Tower – Seattle’s Camarilla is caught up in a vicious political dance the likes of which is rarely found outside the Fortune 500: The words of your superiors are law; the wants of your subordinates are dust; and every move of your peers must be observed for threats, or signs of weakness.
The Long Game – After 20 years at the top, every member of Cross’ faction is still very aware of being the city’s biggest target. So far, they’ve managed by doing anything to stay one step ahead, by exercising caution where it’s warranted, and by never tolerating mistakes among themselves.
