Pokemon Sword and Shield introduces Polteageist, Cramorant, expanded trainer customization, Pokemon Camp, and curry cooking

During today's Nintendo Direct, The Pokemon Company announced a new set of features for Pokemon Sword and Shield, along with two new pokemon, Polteageist and Cramorant. Highlights of the stream footage includes the new Pokemon Camp mode where trainers can show off their cooking prowess, along with an expanded selection of trainer customization features.

In case you're catching up on all things Pokemon Sword and Shield, you can check out previous updates for:

Pokémon Camp

Trainers can set up Camp and then let their Pokemon run free, as well as play with them using either a Poke Toy or by playing catch. Trainers can also visit other people's camps, either via local or internet connection, and play together to cook a Galar region specialty - curry.

There are over one hundred different curries, depending on the Berries and other ingredients used. Similar to some of the berry cooking minigames from previous entries, players will have to play a variety of timing minigames as part of process. Created curries are logged into a Curry Dex, so now there's an additional list to fill beyond simply catching them all.

New Pokemon Cramorant and Poltegeist

Cramorant

Category: Gulp Pokémon
Type: Flying/Water
Height: 2’7”
Weight: 39.7 lbs.
Ability: Gulp Missile

When it comes to food, Cramorant will try to swallow anything it can fit in its mouth. Sometimes it will swallow things that aren’t its intended prey, spitting them out once it realizes its mistake. A Cramorant can be forgetful, but it will never forget a Trainer it grows to trust. However, even Trainers will face fierce attacks from their Cramorant if they try to steal its food. Cramorant’s Ability, Gulp Missile, is a new Ability that can be triggered during battles. After Cramorant uses Surf or Dive, it will return with a catch in its mouth. If it takes damage while in this state, Cramorant will retaliate by spitting out its catch at that opponent.

Polteageist

Category: Black Tea Pokémon
Type: Ghost
Height: 8”
Weight: .9 lbs.
Ability: Weak Armor

Polteageist’s body is made from black tea, and it’s said to have a very distinct aroma and flavor. It will only allow a Trainer it trusts to sample its tea, although drinking too much can lead to indigestion. Many Polteageist make their homes inside hotels and restaurants where they disguise themselves and hide among the tableware. Because they can pour their power into leftover tea and create even more of their kind, they’re often treated as pests.

Trainer Customization

Also frequent in the Galar region are several boutiques and hair salons. Trainers can visit them in order to buy new clothes, swap out accessories, or change their hairstyle. New to Sword and Shield are additional makeup options, as well as an expanded selection of accessories ranging from gloves to glasses to backpacks.

We've got a giant batch of new screenshots below, showing off the Camp and customization features, along with a new Alcremie flavor.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will release on November 15 for Nintendo Switch.
