Risen 2: Dark Waters Revealed

Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes have officially revealed Risen 2: Dark Waters for PC and consoles today, announcing the game's setting and confirming and teasing many other basic details about the game.

Deep Silver's description of the story reads as follows; "Set several years after the end of Risen, raging titans have devastated the world and pushed humanity to the brink of existence. Subsequently, monstrous creatures have risen from the watery depths of the sea and their attacks have brought all seafaring to a grinding halt. The hero, now a member of the Inquisition, is sent out to find out how to stop the chaos caused by these creatures from the deep. His quest begins with rumors that the pirates who frequent the southern islands are the only ones who know a way to get rid of the creatures once and for all and end their reign of terror."

The Press Release goes on to reveal that the game is to have a pirate-based theme to the story and characters, combining the gameplay of the original Risen with a new theme and an island and seafaring setting.

Also confirmed is that the game will play out in the thrid person and will feature choices that will allow players to shape the game world with important decisions, unlocking new paths, skills and features throughout the game. It'll also feature interactive environments and a full day/night cycle.
