Focus Home Interactive acquires 'The Surge' developer Deck13

Focus Home Interactive has announced the acquisition of German development studio Deck13, known for titles such as The Surge and Lords of the Fallen. The announcement was made alongside Focus Home Interactive's fiscal year financial results, which saw increases in both revenues and operating income year-over-year.

The deal made totals at €7.1 million (about $7.9 million USD) and includes Deck13's ~60 person development staff, intellectual property, and Deck13 Spotlight indie publishing label (CrossCode). Focus Home has worked as a publishing partner for Deck13 in the past, having published both of 'The Surge' titles.

Focus Home Interactive management board chairman Jürgen Goeldner states: “We are very happy to welcome the team of Deck13 and look forward to working together to achieve our ambitious objectives ...This acquisition marks a major milestone in our growth story and will strengthen our business model. This acquisition will be financed by the drawing down of the new bank financing of €46 million which will also support our other future developments.”

Deck13's most recent release is The Surge 2, and the studio is currently working on a new unannounced IP.
