Ys VIII novelization to release in English in October 2023
Book publisher Dragonwell Publishing confirmed some more details about its planned novelization of Nihon Falcom's Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. The novel was first announced in February 2023, but an update on April 5th revealed the cover of the book, as well as confirmed a release date of October 18, 2023.
The Ys VIII novel will use the game's subtitle as its main title, going by Lacrimosa of Dana. The novelization will be written by author Anna Kashina. Other books written by Kashina include The Majat Code and Shadowblade.
The book itself will be based closely on the main story of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. According to Dragonwell Publishing, it'll run for 450 pages, and be available in both physical paperback form and as an ebook. The ebook version will be available on platforms like Amazon's Kindle, Kobo, and Google Play Books.
Here's a glimpse at the book's blurb:
When Adol Christin boards the passenger liner Lombardia for an easy voyage across the Gaete Sea, he has no idea this journey will land him shipwrecked on the mysterious Seiren Island, home of an ancient curse that has plagued these waters for millennia. Nor can he possibly imagine that this act of fate will throw him into a battle against primordial powers, set out to destroy the entire human race. Joined by Dana, a powerful young woman from another era, as well as by a handful of the Lombardia survivors, Adol must save his species from extinction, or perish along with everyone he knows. But even if he wins, there is no guarantee that he can ever attain the ultimate prize – a future with Dana.
Lacrimosa of Dana goes on sale on October 18, 2023. The game is available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile platforms. The next Ys series game, Ys X: Nordics, is in development for release in Japan in 2023.
