Never-before-seen features are coming to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, including the all-new Monster Arena Tournaments exclusive to the remake, when the game launches on Nov. 14 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Additionally, newly released screenshots reveal two in-game locations, beautifully reimagined in the game’s iconic HD-2D graphic style. These include shots of iconic towns like Romaria, a bustling city known for its stunning architecture, grand statues and the ever-popular Monster Arena, and Mur, a rural yet vibrant village nestled away in the snow.

 Today, Square Enix revealed…

  • Monster Arena Tournaments, new and exclusive to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

  • There are several monster arenas scattered across the world and each is home to its own ranked tournaments. The key to emerging victorious from these is to assemble your toughest team of up to three rescued monsters. Rescuing more than one of the same species of monster will make that type of creature even mightier! Gather a group of strong critters that will lead you to victory and rich rewards!

  • Friendly monsters that can be rescued will appear on the field, but every monster is different and you’ll need to use special tricks to rescue some of them. Some will flee when exposed to certain sounds or smells, while others will scamper at the mere sight of you. Try masking your approach with certain abilities or items that can turn you invisible or mask your scent.

  • The Monster Wrangler vocation is uniquely useful for, among other abilities, building a team to take on the Monster Arena Tournaments. That’s because having a Monster Wrangler in your party will prevent friendly critters from fleeing when you approach. They can also tell you how many of these critters are in the area nearby.

  • The Monster Wrangler’s “Monster Pile-On" attack deals more damage the more monsters you’ve rescued. Plus, rescuing more monsters unlocks new abilities for the Monster Wrangler!

Featuring vibrant HD-2D graphics, new and modernized features, and a refined narrative, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is a stunning rendition of the beloved masterpiece and a perfect starting point for newcomers to discover one of the most influential RPG franchises in gaming history. Pre-orders are now available for the physical and digital editions. Anyone who pre-orders will receive a free Trouble-Free Travel Kit in the game containing a collection of in-game items.
