Ubisoft reveals Child of Light
Ubisoft finally lifted the curtain on Child of Light, the JRPG inspired 2d sidescrolling RPG in development at Ubisoft Montreal. Child of Light's main character is a young princess named Aurora who goes on an adventure through the world of Lemuria, solving puzzles and fighting monsters to discover why the people of the kingdom have been turned into crows. Accompanying this girl is a mysterious blue spark of a companion that can be controlled by a second player in a sort of co-operation mode.
Gameplay details are a little sparse but several things can be deduced from the screens and trailer. Enemy encounters are not random as the player will be able to see enemies on the field. At this point we know the battle system to be a sort of hybrid between a 2D Final Fantasy ATB system and the Grandia battle system, where an action bar at the bottom of the interface indicates the wait before any battle participant can act. Previews indicate that enemy attacks can be interrupted, which should also ring a bell with those familiar with the Grandia series. Different abilities will vary the amount of time it takes to act, so timing your actions in battle with the enemy will likely be something players will have to keep on top of.

Currently, Child of Light has no set release window, but will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
