Esptolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods Announced
Recently, Square-Enix announced that it will be reviving its Estpolis (Lufia) series with a remake of the SNES RPG classic, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, the prequel to the first entry in the series released back in 1996. Most of the same staff will be returning to work on the game, with the project finding a home on the Nintendo DS. All of the characters in the story will be receiving an overhaul in the art department to bring it a more modern look. Unlike the original title, players will be controlling Maxim directly around the plane of the battlefield and will be able to switch to other characters on the fly.
Lufia II followed the story of young Maxim with the help of his childhood friend Tia, the wandering journeyman Guy, a powerful guardsman Dekar, the scientist Lexis, the elvan warrior Artea, and the commander Selan. They are destined to rise up and destroy the superhuman Daos and the Sinistrals, whom are hell bent on destroying the planet.
Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods will be released in Japan on February 25th, 2010. No word yet on an American or European release. Please check out some of the screenshots of the issue of Famitsu announcing the title below.
