Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire's console release slips to 2019
In an update post detailing Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire's last DLC 'The Forgotten Sanctum', which launches today, Obsidian also finally broke silence on the status of Deadfire's console versions. Back in February, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions were announced for Holiday 2018, but it seems like they're going to miss that mark.
According to the update post, the release date has moved to a nebulous 2019. While that news is potentially disappointing, especially since a tighter window wasn't provided, Obsidian did confirm that the console versions of Deadfire will include all post-launch DLC out of the box. This was the case with the Complete Edition for Pillars of Eternity's console version as well, so while not surprising, it's nice to see it confirmed regardless.
Here's the short statement in full:
If you read our last update, we promised to have more information regarding Deadfire's console release. As we stated, our partners at Grip Digital have been hard at work, and Deadfire will be releasing on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2019! We are pleased to also announce that the console edition will ship with all expansions, updates, and free DLCs included at launch! We don't have an exact date for you yet, but as soon as we have one, we will let you know!
Alongside the launch of the last DLC, version 4.0 also released today, adding new Magran's Fire Challenges, megabosses, subclasses and more. There's far too many to paste here, so head on over to the official forums to see all of the details.
