Persona 3 Reload: Mamoru Hayase (Star) Social Link choices guide
You'll meet and befriend a variety of characters throughout your journey in Persona 3 Reload, but one of the final storylines that'll open up to you is the Mamoru Hayase social link, which in Persona 3 represents the Star Arcana. That's because you'll only meet Mamoru quite far into the in-game Calendar, in the summer. You'll face off in a sporting competition, and then have the chance to become firm friends. This Mamoru S-Link guide features all of the dialogue choices and everything else you'll need to also become fast friends - that is to say, to hit max rank quickly.
A couple of warnings up top, before we start. First, we've done our best to keep this guide spoiler free, but it will contain snippets of dialogue for clarity. Second, this guide is optimized for the Persona 3 Reload version of the Mamoru link - which does differ from other versions. We've got a similar-but-different guide for Mamoru in P3 Portable which should also work for FES, if you need it. For Reload players, stick with this page - and make use of it alongside our Social Link guides for every other character, as well as possibly our 100% S-Link Walkthrough, which gives you a schedule to adhere by.
Mamoru Hayase S-Link Guide - Star (Persona 3 Reload)
The social link system has changed over the years since the first release of Persona 3 - but not that much. Even if you've only played Persona 5, how it functions here will be familiar. Behind-the-scenes, there's a hidden RPG stat which determines when your friendships level up - from Rank 1 all the way up to the max of Rank 10. Spending time with friends raises that stat; as does saying the right things during those hangouts. This guide has all relevant dialogue choices for the Mamoru social link in Persona 3 Reload, helping you to get the most out of each hang-out and preserve your precious in-game days.
Here on RPG Site we refer to the hidden stat for social links as 'Affection Points', and we list the point values you'll gain for each answer below. The point values listed include the Arcana Bonus - so for yours to match our working, you must have a Star Arcana Persona with you each time you spend time with Mamoru.

Social Link Choices
Unlock & Rank 1
When you participate in the summer sports competition in early August (which also involves your Chariot S-Link buddies from the sports club), you'll meet and compete against Mamoru in a race.
After that, you can meet Hayase in Iwatodai Strip Mall on certain days after school. You will also need a Rank 4 in your Courage Social Stat before you're allowed to start this social link - we think. It's difficult to be 100% on this as by this late in the game, most players. Talking to him, and choosing to hang out with him will start the social link.
